IMPORTANT CURRENT NEWS There are currently technical problems with all RootsWeb Mailing Lists.  I have provided an alternative while we wait for these ongoing and lengthy technical problems to be fixed.
I've created a pseudo Blog Mailing List - click on that link, then click on the FOLLOW BLOG / FOLLOW THIS MAILING LIST VIA EMAIL on the right hand menu.
Follow instructions and read the ABOUT and GUIDELINES tabs near the top right.
Welcome to our pseudo Blog Mailing List.
There is more information on my normal Geelong and District Blog.
HOW TO SUBSCRIBE and UNSUBSCRIBE It's easy -- just click on the list you want below. When the "mail-to" window pops up, type just the single word

subscribe

in the SUBJECT FIELD and the BODY of the message. That's all - no other words!

If you want to unsubscribe from a list, click on the relevant link below and type just the single word

unsubscribe

in the SUBJECT FIELD and the BODY of the message.   That's all - no other words!

Important Note 2: You cannot subscribe to both modes with the SAME email address - you must have a different email address for each mode.

Clicking on either of the above options should bring up your email box for you to send a message - if your system doesn't work that way, then open your email system and send an email to the relevant address above with the word subscribe / unsubscribe as required in the SUBJECT FIELD and the BODY of the message.  If all else fails, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. HOW TO SEND MESSAGES Once you've successfully subscribed to the list, you can send messages.  Instructions on how to do this were in your "Welcome message" but if you can't find that, just click on this address and send us your message ...

LOCAL ARCHIVES

The following are a couple of major sources of records and information for the Bellarine Peninsula :-

The Queenscliffe Historical Museum caters specifically for the Borough of Queenscliffe which includes the towns of Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale.

The Bellarine Historical Society caters for all the towns mentioned above - obviously our Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale collection is very small compared to the Queenscliffe Historical Society but they are not excluded from our indexes and records.

The Geelong Heritage Centre inherited a lot of the key records from the Shire of Bellarine following the amalgamation / takeover into the City of Greater Geelong.   The Bellarine Historical Society has some copies of these records and photos in their collection, but more importantly we have indexes to many of the collections.

Obviously I will be encouraging everyone to make use of the Research facilities at the Bellarine Historical Society - either personally or via Research Requests.  The Society desperately needs your support to continue its great work of collection, cataloguing and indexing the records that just might bet the ones you're looking for.
