Databases and Indexes

Brian Fallon (9 March 1936 - 20 June 2008) and the Geelong Family History Group.  Shortly before his death Brian gave his index to the Geelong Family History Group to include in their journal Pivot Tree.  Even if broken into smaller sections, the index and columns of data could not be inserted into the Pivot Tree.  Consequently the Geelong Family History Group decided that it should be included in the Geelong and District Database as Brian wanted his years of research and compilation to be shared with others whose families were in our region.

A second part of Brian's index was the Geelong District: WWI Soldiers' Awards.  Additional details specific to this index are shown in [square brackets] in the explanation of fields below.

Make sure you look at the two Research Options on their website and most importantly follow the link to the GFHG Research Files Catalogue List to check for these or many more indexes and documents.

• National Archives of Australia - service dossiers: World War I service records have been digitised - other reference files may be found.  Search for the surname and regimental number - if not found use combinations of the name
