• Biography. Started bullock driving at the age of 16 with Mr Atherton (founder of the Atherton Tablelands). He took up butchering (like his father) at Ravenswood Junction when the railway line was being built towards Charters Towers. He and Laura lived at Ravenswood Junction, North Queensland when their first son, Percy, was born. They moved several times in the following years. They lived at Mt. Success operating a stone crushing battery. Then about 1902 they moved to Ayr, North Queensland, to work in the timber industry. Then back to Ravenswood. Then to Charters Towers to work in the mines. In 1918, they moved to the Burdekin (Home Hill, North Qld) and shared the pioneering difficulties of cane farming, which he did until he retired. Later took up butchering for a living. Was probably with Church of England as funeral was conducted there.
Percy married Laura Winifred NAUGHTEN, daughter of Bernard NAUGHTEN and Catherine STAFFORD, on 24 May 1899 in Charters Towers, Queensland, Australia. (Laura Winifred NAUGHTEN was born in 1877 in Retreat Station, Bendemeer, near Armidale, New South Wales, Australia and died on 4 Sep 1951 in Home Hill, North Queensland, Australia.)
