Schools

RESOLVED: thank you

We are trying to sort out a series of school register indexes compiled over a number of years by the Geelong Family History Group for schools in the Barrabool Shire.  These entries are in our Potpourri database.

Bricks

This advertisement appeared on the front page of the Geelong Advertiser on 19 Dec 1840 and 26 Dec 1840.

What was "THE BRICKS: Branch Association"?

"Bricks" have been identified in Tasmania - generally louts who if they broke a window yelled "Bricks" as they fled.  It is not known if this was a similar "group" in Geelong!

PJ001

The caption says "Birregurra is going ahead" but is it a photo of Birregurra or Ondit or ??

The photograph was reproduced in the Geelong Advertiser in the 1970s however "locals" ask - is it really Birregurra.  Can you help - names of shopkeepers etc. - to identify the correct location?

IDENTIFIED: this is Cressy and NOT Birregurra.  Confirmed with electoral rolls etc and a photo on the SLV Picture Catalogue showing these actual buildings.
