About "Novel Industrial Enterprises"

Introduction:

Following the passing of Act of Parliament of Victoria No. 145 known as 'The Land Act of 1862', an application form and lease form for Section 47 - Novel Industrial Leases were printed on pp. 1118-1119 of the 1862 Government Gazette.

These leases were mainly applied for by people in primary industry, especially for vineyards and orchards, and the details include the size and exact location of the property as well as the term of the lease and the type of land use, sometimes to the detail of varieties etc.

The occasional application wanted the land to use for a chemical industry.
