Pre-European Settlement Area inhabited by Bengalat balug (Clan) of the Wathaurong Tribe
1802 First European explorers.
January : Lieutenant John Murray
April : Captain Matthew Flinders
1803 - 1835 William Buckley the first European living in the area
Jul 1835 Buckley learned of the presence of white men at Indented Head and that his fellows intended to attack them
Aug, 1835 Batman and his family joined the Port Phillip Association camp at Indented Head before proceeding to the settlement on the Yarra
1835 + Area investigated and surveyed by Wedge and Gellibrand
1861 Indented Head Farmer's Association was successful in having the licence for the squatting run
1863 At its December meeting the Indented Head Road Board considered a letter from the chairman of the Indented Head Farmer's Association seeking information from the Board to lay before ratepayers at a meeting of the Association
late 1800s The Ozone was one of the many stately vessels that graced the local seascape during the late 1800s and early 1900s
19th Century Indented Head = theĀ Bellarine Peninsula
20th Century Indented Head = the Town of Indented Head
1920 Batman Park formed
1925 The hull of the 314 hp bay steamer, the Ozone, was sunk off Indented Head to form a breakwater. Its paddle wheels are still visible
1929 Foreshore Committee was formed for the Indented Head area
1929 Batman Memorial erected to honour the pioneer
May 1985 Re-enactment of John Batman's historic 1835 landing at Indented Head
